  2. Welcome to Wide Area Information Servers (WAIS)!

  4. This is the main distribution site for WAIS software (think.com).  Some
  5. other releases are maintained at other sites (see the announcement below).

  7. Z39.50 archives are kept in the Z3950 subdirectory.

  25. Thank you for the interest in WAIS.  The servers on Quake (including the
  26. directory of servers) has 70k requests from over 1100 different hosts all
  27. over the world (18 countries) in a couple of months.  There are now 70
  28. servers including one in Norway, one in Australia, poetry, recipies,
  29. comp.sources, as well as a Connection Machine serving all sorts of things.
  30.  
  31. There are are a few mailing lists on this subject that you might want to be
  32. on: 
  33.     wais-interest: only announcements like this (1 a month or so)
  34.     wais-discussion: moderated mailings every 1 or 2 weeks.  Good
  35.             stuff including all on wais-interest.
  36.     wais-talk: unmoderated for implementors and interactive discussions.

  38. wais-<foo>-request@think.com, or to listserv@think.com.  When using
  39. listserv@think.com, the body of your message must contain 
  40. "ADD yourlogin nameofmailinglist",
